    • A small design project

  • Registered charities, not for profit organisations, community groups, places of education, places of worship with a turnover of less than £1 million- organisations that are trying to make a positive contribution, have limited resources and believe in the power of good design. The project should be in England (this is due to regulations and planning law being being different in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland).

You should own or lease the building/site and be confident that the landlord would give permission for any works.

  • We believe in the power of good design and that great spaces can facilitate great communities. We see this in our projects and many other great spaces across the UK. We have often provided pro-bono work for organisations that don’t have the resources or need some initial help to access funding. However, this often comes through our contacts and we want to make this more equitable and available to everyone.

  • The judges will be looking at how our time can have the greatest impact on an organisation and if the scope of the project is manageable within the budget. They’ll also assess how likely an organisation might be in gaining funding from elsewhere. We really want to help those that otherwise would find it very difficult.

    The award criteria:

    • Need - Why is the project required?

    • Viability - How likely is it the project will happen?

    • Impact of support programme - How helpful can we be within the parameters of the programme?

    • Impact of project - How will the project help your community/ charity and its users?

    • Sustainability - How does the project help reduce negative environmental impact?

  • No, and this is specifically aimed at getting projects started which can often be the hardest part to find funding for.

We do ask that you contribute 7.5% of the awarded support programme value. See below.

  • It includes our time, travel and in-house printing if required. Time is based on £100/hr and each project will be managed by a qualified architect.

We would hope no other costs would be incurred or would be minimal. We would make any potential recipient aware of any likely additional costs before awarding the support programme.

  • Part of the judging process will be to ensure we can add value. If we believe the scope of the work is too large but there is value we can add, we’ll come back with a proposal.

  • We think it is important that the charity/community group is invested in the process financially even in a small way.

  • The 7.5% will be payable on commencement of the support programme and will be used to cover any long distant travel costs, additional expenses and ongoing running of the support programme.
