ABOUT DESIGN FOR ALL

DESIGN FOR ALL has been set up to provide small charities and community organisations with professional expertise to get their building projects off the ground.

The support programme provides expert advice for building related projects which are in early development. This is often the hardest part of the project to find funding for.

The support programme is available to charities, community groups and other organisations that make positive contributions to their community and believe in good design. It is available to all England based charities and community organisations with a turnover of less than £1 million.

The applications for 2024 will open soon.

Who is it for?

  • Small charities and community organisations (< £1 million turnover).

  • England based.

  • Organisations with a specific building project in mind.

  • Organisations with clear plan of future funding for capital costs.

What does the SUPPORT PROGRAMME provide?

  • Professional expertise from a range of disciplines and reasonable travel expenses.

  • A share of £30,000 (based on £100/hr) worth of time split across 2 to 4 recipients.

  • The support programme does not provided capital or cash.

Award Criteria

  • Need - Why is the project required?

  • Viability - How likely is it the project will happen?

  • Impact of support - How helpful can we be within the parameters of the support programme?

  • Impact of project - How will the project help your community/ charity and its users?

  • Sustainability - How does the project help reduce negative environmental impact?

TIMELINE

  • 26/05/2023 Deadline for Stage 1 applications

  • 16/06/2023 Results of Stage 1 with 6 to 8 projects shortlisted

  • 19/06/2023 Start of Stage 2 for shortlisted applications

  • 17/07/2023 The support programme is awarded

  • 24/07/2023 - 30/11/2023 - Project work (individual programme to be agreed with recipients)

  • High Level feasibility study

  • Pitch document for future funding

What commitment is required by the charity?

  • A realistic programme that is agreed to and stuck by

  • A point of contact that is at decision-making level

  • 7.5 (seven and a half) % of the awarded support programme value as payment

  • Clear plan for future funding of the project
